Participation in Market

  • The Brookside Farmers’ Market is a producer-only market. Producers must be present at the market. Items purchased for resale may not be sold at this market.

  • Vendors must produce their product within 125 miles of Kansas City, Missouri.

  • All vendors must sign the Brookside Market Pledge.

  • All vendors must read and comply with the Brookside Market Production Standards applicable to their business.

  • All vendors must carry product liability insurance.

  • First time vendor applicants will be inspected by a representative of the Vendor Committee prior to acceptance.

  • All vendors are required to demonstrate transparency by organizing and hosting a gathering or open house at their business, at least once per year. The market manager must be advised of the time/date of this event at least 2 weeks prior and will invite a group of market community members. This is not an inspection, but a marketing opportunity and community building event.

  • All vendors will keep a complete list of all ingredients and inputs used in production, including fertilizers, seed, feed, amendments, treatments, purchased stock, etc. Additionally they will keep either receipts, labels or images of labels suitable to confirm that these products were used. This list and supporting evidence will be included in the following years market application.

Vendors may arrange to share a tent with another vendor as long as:

  • Each producer is present at each market.

  • A separate application and fee is submitted to the market.

  • Market space is limited; priority will be given to vendors producing unique products.

  • The Vendor Committee reserves the right to inspect all production facilities.

Application Process

All vendors must apply annually to participate in the market. Applications are reviewed by the Vendor Committee, a voluntary committee of selected vendors from the previous year’s market. This committee makes decisions on market participation. Disputed applications may be referred to the Board of Directors. The application fee is non-refundable.
