a friendly community of local growers and makers sharing wholesome, sustainable food with Kansas City eaters.

Our Roots

The greatest strength of the Brookside Farmers Market continues to be our neighborhood regulars and their devoted support. They return every Saturday morning as a parking lot springs to life with farmers and makers, neighbors and musicians, bursting with a bounty of locally grown and produced food.

A different kind of farmers’ market

Not just another produce market, the Brookside Farmers’ Market is a community. The market is a bridge between Kansas Citians and their local food source. All of our vendors are the actual farmers and makers. You will find no middle man here. Those who grow, raise or make every product are the ones who sell it to you directly. Everything sources from within 125 miles of Kansas City. Most importantly, our vendors are committed to practices that steward our soil, water, and natural resources. Here are a few other things that makes Brookside Farmers’ Market stand out.

  • Operate year-round with an indoor Winter Market

  • Feature locally and sustainably grown produce, meat, baked goods, and handcrafted items

  • Showcase local musicians at every market

  • Welcome families with childrens’ activities

  • Free Community Tent weekly for non-profit groups and progressive businesses

  • Governed by an all-volunteer, vendor-led board of directors

  • Have a Community Member Committee to better align market with community needs

  • Fully committed to Brookside Farmers Market Vendor Pledge detailing sustainable farming and ranching practices

  • Farm visits: New this year, vendors will host customers and community members at their farm at least once during the season.
