Ami, Jim, Anna & Andrew Zumalt have been growing at Red Ridge Farms since 2009 and started coming to market the same year.
Red Ridge Farms will be planting and harvesting over 400 varieties of fruits and vegetables this year. Artichoke, arugula, beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, chard, cress, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, gourds, greens, kale, kohlrabi, leek, lettuce, melon, okra, parsnips, peas, peppers, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, radish, spinach, squash, rutabaga, tomatoes, turnips, microgreens, cut flowers, strawberries, blackberries, pears, rhubarb, horseradish, asparagus, herbs, transplants, and random garden décor, supplies, fertilizers, and repellants.
They also offer CSA subscriptions (Community Supported Agriculture) – and offer a great percent off market prices with their debit style CSA program at Brookside. Buy what you want, when you want, at a discounted price.
They are eager to share their knowledge with volunteers and other community members, but, since they don’t live on their farm at 978 NW 1101 Road in Odessa, please call (816-6907161 or 816-694-4432) to make arrangements before hand. Those of you who like keeping up with your farmers via social media can keep in touch on Facebook.
Mission, vision, values, beliefs
We believe that sustaining the earth sustains us. We believe that eating well requires fresh, local, and natural food. This is the best job we’ve ever had! We started this adventure because our children have various food allergies that make many ‘grocery store or restaurant dining’ choices off limits, and once we started reading about how interrelated health and good eating were, we had to jump in and make a difference.
